Copy2webFAQ
Q: What do I need to run copy2web?
A: copy2web runs on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Linux and Mac OS X 1.5 (Leopard). You must have Java 1.5 installed or later. If you do not have Java installed, you can download it for free at http://www.java.com. If you are not sure if you have Java installed, follow the link on java.com, "Do I have Java?". If you have Windows Vista or Mac OS X, you most certainly already have it installed.
Q: How do I install it?
A: For Windows users, just run the copy2web-installer-win.exe file. On the Mac, just double-click the copy2web-installer-mac.jar file. On Linux, run the installer from a shell using the 'java -jar copy2web-installer-linux.jar' command.
For all platforms, the installation will guide you through the setup. When you first run copy2web, you'll be prompted for the username, password and registration key that was emailed to you. Enter that information and follow the prompts on the screen.
Q: Is my data safe? How is it stored and transmitted?
A: Yes. All data between the copy2web application and the copy2web server is sent over a secured SLL connection. On our server, your user information and data is stored encrypted in a database. While being sent or retrieved, the clip data is compressed to make transfers as quick as possible.
Q: How many times can I install copy2web?
A: You may install copy2web on as many computers as you like at single location, so long as you are the owner or primary user of those computers. If you want to run copy2web at work and at home, you should purchase two licenses.
Q: What kinds of data can I copy/paste with copy2web?
A: Most text and image data. And files up to 2MB in size. Note however, that some applications which produce specially formatted text may loose its formatting properties when copied.
Q: How do I delete a clip?
A: Select the clip you want to delete, then press the Backspace or Delete key. This will remove the clip from the list (and our database).
Q: How long will my clips be available?
A: Generally, until you delete them. However, we may purge old clips out of the database from time to time. But we'll let you know before. As a rule of thumb, you should remove any clips that you won't need again.
Q: How can I share clips with other people?
A: In the current version of copy2web, you cannot share your clips with other users. However, this feature is being considered for future versions.
